NTA releases scorecards, final answer keys and category-wise cut-offs; English, Commerce and Sociology candidates to wait for September re-exams
New Delhi, August 31, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the UGC NET June 2026 results and released the final answer keys and category-wise cut-off marks for 84 subjects.
Candidates who appeared for the examination can now check their scorecards and final answer keys through the official UGC-NET portal. The results determine eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor appointments and admission to PhD programmes, depending on the category in which a candidate qualifies.
Over 7.7 Lakh Candidates Registered
The UGC NET June 2026 examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across the country. A total of 7,73,806 candidates registered, while 6,07,151 candidates appeared for the examination.
The examination was conducted across 655 examination centres in 286 cities. The June session covered 87 subjects, although results and final answer keys have currently been processed for 84 subjects.
1.47 Lakh Candidates Qualify
According to the result data, a total of 1,47,579 candidates qualified across the three eligibility categories.

The challenge window closed on August 18. Following examination of the challenges by subject experts, NTA finalised the answer keys and processed the results.
The final answer key is important because it forms the basis for the final evaluation of candidates’ responses.

English, Commerce and Sociology Candidates Must Wait
There is an important exception for candidates who appeared for English, Commerce and Sociology.
NTA has ordered fresh examinations for these three subjects after issues were identified with the original question papers. The re-examinations are scheduled for:
- English: September 9, 2026 — Shift 1
- Commerce: September 9, 2026 — Shift 2
- Sociology: September 10, 2026 — Shift 1
Candidates from these three subjects will therefore not receive their June-session scorecards until after the re-examinations and subsequent evaluation.
Candidates from these subjects may also see an “Invalid Application Number/Password” message when attempting to access the scorecard. NTA has clarified that their results will be made available after the re-examination process.
