New Delhi, September 18, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the UGC-NET June 2026 re-examination results for candidates who appeared in the English, Commerce and Sociology papers. The scorecards and final answer keys are now available through the official UGC-NET website.

The re-examination was conducted on September 9 and 10, 2026, after the NTA received complaints regarding errors in the question papers used for these three subjects. The examination was held at 454 centres across 272 cities in India.

Over 1.20 Lakh Candidates Appeared

According to the results data, 1,96,491 candidates registered for the three subjects, while 1,20,355 candidates appeared for the re-examination. The results cover eligibility categories associated with Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professor and PhD admission.

The NTA reported the following qualification figures:

• 824 candidates qualified for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF)
• 11,610 candidates qualified for Assistant Professor eligibility
• 23,154 candidates qualified for PhD-only eligibility

Why Was the Re-Exam Conducted?

The English, Commerce and Sociology papers from the original June examination were subjected to complaints concerning errors. An NTA-constituted committee reviewed the issues, with reported problems including factual, typographical, translation, grammatical and punctuation errors, as well as issues involving names, book titles and terminology. NTA subsequently decided to conduct fresh examinations for the three subjects.

The original UGC-NET June 2026 examination was conducted from June 22 to June 30 across 87 subjects. The three affected subjects were subsequently examined separately in September.

Final Answer Key Also Released

Along with the results, NTA has released the final answer key for the September re-examination. The agency says challenges submitted against the provisional answer keys were examined by subject experts, and the results were processed using the finalised answer keys.
