Who Can Apply for JAM 2027?
Candidates who have completed an undergraduate degree or are appearing for their final qualifying-degree examination in 2027 can apply.
There is no age limit, no restriction on the number of attempts and no minimum percentage requirement for appearing in JAM, although candidates must satisfy the admission requirements of the institute and programme they eventually seek admission to.
JAM 2027 is also open to foreign nationals.
Seven Test Papers Available
Candidates can appear for up to two test papers, provided the selected papers are scheduled in different sessions.
The seven JAM 2027 papers are:

The morning session on February 14 will feature Chemistry, Geology and Mathematics, while Biotechnology, Economics, Mathematical Statistics and Physics will be conducted in the afternoon session.

The application fee varies according to category and the number of test papers selected:

More Than 3,000 IIT Seats on Offer
JAM 2027 scores will be used for admission to postgraduate programmes across 23 IITs, with more than 3,000 seats available through the participating IITs. The examination provides access to programmes including MSc, MSc-Tech, MS (Research), MSc-MTech dual degrees, Joint MSc-PhD and other postgraduate programmes.
JAM scores are also shared with several other institutions, including IISc and participating CFTIs, for admissions through their respective processes.
JAM 2027 Exam Pattern
The three-hour JAM 2027 examination will contain three sections:
- Section A: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with negative marking for incorrect answers
- Section B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), with no negative marking
- Section C: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions
Candidates will be able to use an online virtual calculator during the examination.
Documents Required for Application
Applicants should keep the necessary documents ready before beginning the online application. These include the Class 10/SSC marksheet or certificate, recent photograph and signature. Candidates claiming applicable reservations must also provide the required category certificates.
