CISCE Launches ACTIVE CISCE Fitness Program for 31 Lakh Students Across India

In a major push toward holistic education, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) has introduced ACTIVE CISCE, a nationwide student fitness assessment program that will cover more than 31 lakh students across affiliated schools in India. The initiative aims to make physical wellness an essential part of school education in line with the goals of NEP 2020.

Promoting Holistic Student Development

ACTIVE CISCE focuses on student well-being beyond academics by emphasizing physical health, stamina, flexibility, and overall fitness. The program encourages schools to treat physical wellness as an important pillar of student development alongside classroom learning.

Experts believe improved physical fitness can positively influence concentration, mental wellness, and academic performance.

Regular Fitness Assessments in Schools

As part of the initiative, students from various age groups will undergo structured fitness assessments designed to evaluate strength, endurance, agility, coordination, and mobility. Schools will conduct these assessments periodically to track progress and encourage healthier habits.

The program will also help schools identify areas where students may need additional physical activity or support.

Aligning With NEP 2020 Vision

The National Education Policy 2020 stresses experiential learning and gives importance to sports and physical education. ACTIVE CISCE supports this vision by integrating fitness into everyday school routines rather than limiting it to extracurricular activities.

This approach aims to build a balanced learning environment that supports both intellectual and physical growth.

Encouraging Active School Environments

CISCE plans to support schools with training programs for physical education instructors and wellness coordinators. Schools are expected to increase activity-based learning, sports participation, and awareness about healthy lifestyles.

Such efforts can help reduce sedentary behavior among students and promote long-term wellness.

A Step Toward Healthier Future Generations

ACTIVE CISCE marks a significant step in reshaping how schools approach student health. By making fitness assessment a regular practice, the initiative seeks to nurture healthier, more active, and well-rounded students prepared for future challenges.
