The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations on 17 February 2026, starting one of India’s largest academic assessment drives. Over 43 lakh students appeared at examination centres across the country and abroad.

The board scheduled the exams in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm and instructed students to arrive early for verification and seating procedures.

Large-Scale Student Participation

Lakhs of schools and exam centres joined the nationwide examination process. On the first day, Class 10 students wrote the Mathematics papers, while Class 12 students took subject-wise exams as per the official date sheet.

Officials reported smooth and disciplined conduct at most centres.

Clear Advisory on Reporting Time and Travel

CBSE urged students to reach centres well before the gate-closing time and plan their travel in advance to avoid delays caused by traffic or public transport issues.

Schools and parents coordinated transport plans, and students carried admit cards and valid identity proof as required.

Strict Rules on Items Inside Exam Halls

The board reminded candidates to follow examination rules strictly. Students must not bring:

• Mobile phones, smartwatches, or electronic gadgets
• Calculators and prohibited stationery items

Authorities warned that violations would lead to disciplinary action. These steps aim to maintain fairness and uniform standards at all centres.

Strong Warning Against Fake News

CBSE cautioned students and parents not to trust or circulate rumours about question paper leaks or exam schedule changes spreading on social media.

The board asked everyone to rely only on official announcements and avoid misinformation that could create panic and confusion.

Enhanced Security and Student Support

Education departments and school authorities strengthened security and supervision at examination centres. Staff guided students at entry points and managed crowd movement, especially at high-footfall locations.

Help desks and support teams handled queries related to reporting time and examination guidelines.

Appeal for Calm and Discipline

CBSE officials appealed to students to stay calm, follow instructions carefully, and focus on their performance. The board stressed the importance of discipline, transparency, and safety as lakhs of candidates take part in the 2026 examinations across India.
