The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 12 board examination results for 2026 on May 13, bringing the examination season to a close for lakhs of students across India. Students accessed their scores through official digital platforms including DigiLocker and UMANG shortly after the announcement.
Trivandrum Records Highest Pass Percentage
Among all CBSE regions, Trivandrum emerged as the top-performing region with the highest pass percentage in the country. Southern regions continued to dominate the results, with Chennai and Bengaluru also reporting strong performances.
Education analysts noted that consistent academic infrastructure, digital learning adoption, and higher participation in preparatory programs contributed to the strong results in southern India.
Overall Performance Reflects Competitive Evaluation
The 2026 Class 12 results reflected a competitive academic environment, with a slight variation in overall pass percentages compared to previous years. Schools across multiple regions reported improved performances in science and commerce streams, while humanities students also showed steady results.
Officials stated that the evaluation process included enhanced digital assessment practices aimed at ensuring accuracy and transparency.
Girls Continue to Outperform Boys
Female students once again recorded a higher pass percentage than male candidates in the CBSE Class 12 examinations. Educators highlighted increasing academic participation and consistent performance among girl students across urban and semi-urban schools.
Many schools also reported improved results among first-generation learners and students from smaller towns.
Supplementary and Improvement Exams in July
CBSE confirmed that supplementary and improvement examinations will be conducted in July 2026. Students who could not clear one or more subjects, or those wishing to improve their marks, will be eligible to apply through their respective schools.
The board is expected to release detailed schedules and application procedures shortly.
Post-Result Services to Begin Soon
Following the declaration of results, CBSE will open applications for:
- Verification of marks
- Photocopy requests of answer sheets
- Re-evaluation procedures
- Supplementary examination registration

Digital Access Simplifies Result Process
This year, students were able to download provisional marksheets online without visiting schools physically. The digital distribution system helped streamline access to results and reduced pressure on institutions.
