The CBSE Board will soon be giving a go ahead for AI & Robotics as an optional subject for standard 8,9 and 10.
This decision is a brave one considering it has both pros and cons to it.
As Artificial Intelligence (AI), is growing globally in the research and job sector, the potential of learning the subject early has great benefits for students who will opt for it.
AI is already taught in US schools.
The number of job seekers for AI has seen seen an upsurge last year – 2018, with about 180% increase in job seekers for Artificial Intelligence / Robotics related jobs.
On the other hand, some schools are sceptical about it being introduced this year, as the teachers with expertise in AI are scarce. Adequately equipped computer labs are a scarcity.
However, it is a step in right direction and futuristic.
It remains to be seen whether the schools stand up to the new challenge and provide the infrastructure required for AI.
Some students are really looking forward to the new option in AI and Robotics,lets hope the institutions and the board back this decision and provide the backing that is required to make this a grand success.
