GATE 2027 Examination Schedule

GATE 2027 will be conducted on February 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21, 2027.

The national-level examination assesses candidates’ understanding of undergraduate-level subjects across engineering, technology, science, architecture, commerce, arts and humanities.

GATE scores are used for admission to postgraduate and doctoral programmes at participating institutions. Several public sector undertakings also consider GATE scores during recruitment, subject to their respective eligibility and selection criteria.

New Robotics and Automation Paper Introduced

GATE 2027 introduces a new test paper in Robotics and Automation (RA), expanding the examination’s subject options.

The organising institute has also announced changes to certain sectional paper codes and revised syllabi. Candidates should review the latest syllabus, examination pattern and permitted two-paper combinations before selecting their papers.

Why Is GATE Important for Engineering Graduates?

GATE is an important entrance examination for students seeking admission to MTech and other postgraduate programmes at IITs, IISc and other participating institutions.

Depending on the programme and applicable rules, qualified candidates may also be eligible for doctoral admissions and financial assistance. Some public sector organisations use GATE scores as part of their recruitment processes.

Candidates should check the eligibility requirements of their preferred institutions and employers, as qualifying in GATE does not automatically guarantee admission, a scholarship or employment.
