UPSC CSE 2025 Application Deadline Extended to February 18, 2025

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has extended the application deadline for the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2025 to February 18, 2025. Initially set for February 11, the deadline was extended due to technical issues experienced by some applicants1. A seven-day correction window will be available from February 19 to February 25, 2025, allowing candidates to make necessary modifications to their applications.

The UPSC CSE 2025 Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 25, 2025, and aims to fill approximately 979 vacancies. Candidates must complete a One-Time Registration (OTR) before applying, which remains valid for a lifetime1. The examination will be conducted in two stages: Preliminary and Mains (which includes a written examination and interview).

Application Process:

  1. One-Time Registration (OTR): Candidates must first complete their OTR on the official UPSC website. This profile remains valid for a lifetime and can be used for future UPSC exams1.
  2. Application Form: After completing the OTR, candidates can fill out the application form for the UPSC CSE 2025. The form requires details such as educational qualifications, personal information, and exam preferences1.
  3. Correction Window: From February 19 to February 25, 2025, candidates can log in to their accounts and make necessary corrections to their application forms.
  4. Application Fee: The application fee varies based on the candidate’s category. Female candidates, as well as those from SC, ST, and Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) categories, are exempted from paying the fee2.
  5. Submission: After filling out the form and paying the fee, candidates must submit the application and download the confirmation page for future reference.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Candidates must have a graduation degree or an equivalent qualification.
  • Those who have appeared for their final exams but are awaiting results can also apply.
  • The minimum age requirement is 21 years, while the maximum age is 32 as of August 1, 2025.
  • Age relaxations apply for reserved category candidates.

Exam Pattern:

The UPSC CSE 2025 will be conducted in two stages:

  1. Preliminary Examination: Scheduled for May 25, 2025, this stage includes objective-type questions with negative marking for incorrect answers.
  2. Mains Examination: Includes a written examination and an interview.

Vacancies:

The UPSC CSE 2025 aims to fill approximately 979 vacancies, including positions for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other prestigious civil services2.
