In a significant move to ensure the safety, respect, and self-reliance of women in Uttar Pradesh, the state government is set to launch a comprehensive campaign at all levels of education. The initiative is part of the fourth phase of Mission Shakti, with activities spanning across Higher Education, Secondary Education, and Basic Education Departments, starting from October 14.

EMPOWERING GIRLS THROUGH EDUCATION AND AWARENESS

The campaign aims to empower girls by raising awareness about their rights and legal protection through webinars and seminars. Additionally, it will focus on critical topics, including child rights, safety, security, and distinguishing between safe and unsafe physical contact.

The Higher Education, Secondary Education, and Basic Education Departments have meticulously planned the fourth phase of Mission Shakti, which will be executed systematically.

CM YOGI LEADS THE CHARGE

The launch of the fourth phase of Mission Shakti will be officially inaugurated by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who will flag off a rally from his official residence on October 14.

PROMOTING GENDER EQUALITY IN HIGHER EDUCATION

To encourage gender equality in higher education, an awareness campaign will focus on increasing women’s enrollment by providing equal opportunities in higher education.

Information on legal provisions related to women’s safety will be disseminated through webinars and seminars at all levels of education, including universities, colleges, and schools.

MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT

Counselling services will be provided through NGOs and psychiatrists under the “Chuppi Todo, Khulkar Bolo” programme, addressing the concerns of girls. Moreover, universities and colleges will hold health check-up camps for girl students and encourage regular dialogues with female role models.

ENSURING REGULAR SCHOOL ATTENDANCE

The Basic Education Department will launch an attendance campaign, conducting programme every Saturday in 1.33 lakh schools, with a focus on girls who are frequently absent.

MENSTURAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT

Consistent efforts will focus on discussing menstrual hygiene management with girls in upper primary schools, and they will receive training through activity books.

SAFE SCHOOL ENVIRONMENT

The initiative includes forming “Shakti Manch” in every school to create awareness among girls and women about their rights. Also, it will promote essay, speech, debate competitions, and discussions led by expert women lecturers.
