The art of eating right during a pandemic

As part of its Patient Education Programme (PEP) and respecting the lockdown and the social distancing norms set by the Government of India to combat the rapid spread of COVID-19, Neuberg Diagnostics Private Limited, a StartUp in the PathLab chain segment, today organised a PEP Talk in the form of a Webinar. The Webinar was addressed by Ms. Pallavi Sawant, Sports Nutritionist and Certified Diabetes Educator. Pallavi’s talk was about winning over the pandemic with a balanced diet.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Aishwarya Vasudevan, Group COO, Neuberg Diagnostics Private Limited said, Adhering to a healthy diet is very important in the fight against COVID-19. What we eat and drink can affect our body’s ability to prevent, fight and recover from infections. A healthy diet is important for supporting immune systems. Good nutrition can also reduce the likelihood of developing other health issues like obesity, heart disease, diabetes and some types of cancer. We are happy to be hosting Ms. Pallavi Sawant to talk about easy, affordable and healthy eating during the pandemic.”

Ms. Pallavi Sawant is a practicing sports nutritionist from Mumbai who has been in the profession for the past eight years. As a nutritionist, she believes in the science of eating. She considers diet to be more about discipline and dedication than about eating right.

During her address, Pallavi spoke about proper nutrition and hydration being vital. According to her, people who eat a well-balanced diet tend to be healthier with stronger immune systems and lower risk of chronic illnesses and infectious diseases. She also mentioned that it is still possible to purchase and consume a healthy diet during these difficult times.

The crux of her talk revolved around…

  • Eating fresh and unprocessed foods every day
  • Drinking enough water every day
  • Eating moderate amounts of fat and oil
  • Eating less salt and sugar
  • Avoiding eating out

The webinar saw participation by 100 plus individuals…mainly those who were eager to learn more about balanced and healthy eating during COVID-19 and the lockdown.
