Great news for Indian education!
SSN College of Engineering (part of Shiv Nadar University, Chennai) has won the prestigious 2025 Global ESTEM Excellence Prize along with a cash award of US $25,000.
This international award celebrates colleges that make STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) education innovative, inclusive, and environment-friendly. Only a few institutions worldwide are chosen each year — past winners include MIT, Stanford, and the National University of Singapore. SSN is now part of this elite group.
Why SSN Stood Out
The judges loved these initiatives:
- Real-world projects for every student, right from the first year
- Free STEM workshops for over 45,000 government and rural school children in Tamil Nadu through the “STEM for All” program
- A compulsory course on Climate Change & Sustainable Engineering for all branches
- Nearly 50% women students and generous scholarships for first-generation learners
- Strong industry ties with companies like Google, Amazon, and Intel — leading to hundreds of patents and research papers by undergraduates every year
The $25,000 prize will help expand rural outreach and build a new Green Fabrication & Circular Economy Lab on campus.
