National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) Undergraduate (UG) 2025

Purpose

NEET UG is a national-level entrance exam conducted for admissions to undergraduate medical (MBBS) and dental (BDS) courses, as well as other undergraduate medical courses like Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha, and Homeopathy (BAMS, BUMS, BSMS, BHMS) in India.

Conducting Authority

The exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have scored at least 50% in their qualifying examination (40% for SC/ST candidates).
  • Residency: Candidates must be Indian nationals or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).
  • Age Limit: Candidates must be between 17 to 25 years old as of December 31, 2025.
  • Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt the exam up to three times in consecutive years.

Exam Schedule

  • Registration: Begins on January 15, 2025, and ends on March 31, 2025.
  • Admit Card: Available from April 1, 2025.
  • Exam Dates: The exam will be held on May 5, 2025.
  • Result: Announced on May 12, 2025.
  • Online Counselling and Seat Allocation: Begins on May 12, 2025.

Application Process

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the NTA NEET website (neet.nta.nic.in).
  2. Register: Complete the registration process by entering the required details.
  3. Fill the Application Form: Fill out the NEET UG application form and upload scanned documents.
  4. Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee using credit/debit cards or net banking.
  5. Submit the Form: Submit the application form and print a hard copy for future reference.

Application Fee

  • General Category Candidates: ₹1,500
  • SC/ST/PwD Candidates: ₹750
  • Female Candidates: ₹1,000

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: Pen-and-Paper (OMR-based) Test
  • Duration: 3 hours 20 minutes (200 minutes)
  • Total Questions: 200 multiple-choice questions
  • Total Marks: 720 marks
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Medium: English and Hindi
