The National Testing Agency (NTA) did not release the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 results on February 12 as initially anticipated, leaving lakhs of engineering aspirants across the country waiting for an official announcement. Students had been expecting the scorecards to be published by mid-February based on earlier indications from the examination authority.
As of Thursday evening, no formal result notification had appeared on the official JEE Main portal, triggering confusion and concern among candidates and parents.
Sources familiar with the examination process indicated that the delay is linked to the ongoing review of objections raised against the provisional answer key. The NTA had opened a challenge window after releasing the preliminary answer key, allowing candidates to submit representations on disputed questions and responses.
Officials are understood to be finalising the corrected answer key before declaring the results to ensure accuracy and transparency in the evaluation process.
The unexpected delay has heightened anxiety among students who are planning their next academic steps, including preparation for JEE Advanced and other engineering entrance examinations. Many candidates took to social media platforms seeking clarity on the revised timeline for the declaration of results.
Parents and coaching institutions have also urged the testing agency to issue a clear statement on the new result date to avoid further speculation.
Once released, the JEE Main 2026 Session 1 scorecard will display candidates’ subject-wise marks, total percentile score, and qualification status for JEE Advanced 2026. The results will play a crucial role in determining eligibility for counselling and admissions to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions.
The NTA is expected to issue a formal update on the revised result schedule shortly. Candidates have been advised to regularly check the official JEE Main portal and avoid relying on unverified sources or rumours circulating online.
Education experts have also recommended that students continue their preparation for the next phase of examinations while awaiting the official declaration.
