Purpose

The JEE Advanced is an entrance exam conducted for admissions to undergraduate programs in engineering, science, and architecture at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and other top engineering institutes across India.

Conducting Authority

The exam is conducted by one of the IITs on a rotational basis. In 2025, the exam is being organized by IIT Roorkee.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed or be appearing for the 12th standard (or equivalent) examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as subjects.
  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must rank among the top 2,50,000 in JEE Main 2025 to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
  • Age Limit: Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 2000. For SC, ST, and PwD candidates, the age limit is relaxed by five years.
  • Number of Attempts: A candidate can attempt JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in consecutive years.
  • Residency: Candidates must be Indian nationals or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).

Exam Schedule

  • Registration: Begins on April 30, 2025, and ends on May 6, 2025.
  • Admit Card: Available from May 12, 2025, to May 18, 2025.
  • Exam Date: The exam will be held on May 18, 2025.
  • Result: Announced on June 15, 2025.

Application Process

  1. Visit the Official Website: Go to the JEE Advanced website (jeeadv.ac.in).
  2. Register: Complete the registration process by entering the required details.
  3. Fill the Application Form: Fill out the JEE Advanced application form and upload scanned documents.
  4. Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee using credit/debit cards or net banking.
  5. Submit the Form: Submit the application form and print a hard copy for future reference.

Application Fee

  • General Category Candidates: ₹2,800
  • SC/ST/PwD and Female Candidates: ₹1,400
  • Candidates from SAARC Countries: USD 75
  • Candidates from Non-SAARC Countries: USD 150

Exam Pattern

  • Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  • Duration: Each paper is 3 hours long
  • Papers: Two compulsory papers (Paper 1 and Paper 2), both of which must be attempted
  • Total Marks: Varies each year
  • Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Numerical Value Questions (NAT), and Match the Following
  • Medium: English and Hindi
