Admission to JNVs is conducted through the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST), which is an entrance examination for Class VI. Additionally, lateral entry exams are held for admission into Class IX and Class XI.
JNVs provide education from Class VI to Class XII. The education is free of cost, including boarding, lodging, uniforms, textbooks, and daily use items. For students of general and OBC categories in Classes IX to XII, there is a nominal monthly fee of INR 600.
JNVs promote multilingualism by offering instruction in English and Hindi. In the initial stages, education is provided in the regional language until Class VIII, after which the medium of instruction shifts to English.
JNVs emphasize the holistic development of students through various activities:
The JNV system is renowned for its commitment to excellence, providing a nurturing environment that fosters both academic achievement and personal growth. The alumni of JNVs have consistently excelled in various fields, contributing to the nation’s development.
