In response to the ongoing cold wave, the district administration of Gurugram has ordered the closure of all private and government schools from January 1 to January 15, 2025. This decision aims to ensure the safety and well-being of students amid extreme weather conditions1.
During this period, schools have been directed to maintain learning continuity through revision sessions and holiday assignments. Virtual classes and online resources will be utilized to keep students engaged and ensure they stay on track with their studies1.
The decision has received mixed responses from parents and educators. While some parents appreciate the focus on health and safety, others are concerned about the impact on students’ academic schedules, especially those preparing for board exams1.
Deputy Commissioner Ajay Kumar emphasized that the priority is the students’ safety and well-being. “The ongoing cold wave poses a serious health risk, particularly to younger students,” he said1.
The district administration has assured that schools will reopen on January 16, 2025, and that all necessary measures will be taken to minimize disruptions to the academic calendar.
