Purpose
The FMGE, also known as the Screening Test for Foreign Medical Graduates, is conducted to assess the medical knowledge and clinical skills of medical graduates with primary medical qualifications from countries outside India. It is a mandatory exam for Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) who wish to practice medicine in India1.
Conducting Authority
The exam is conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).
Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a primary medical qualification awarded by a medical institution outside India.
- Residency: Candidates must be Indian nationals or Overseas Citizens of India (OCI).
- Number of Attempts: Candidates can attempt the exam up to three times in consecutive years.

- Last Date to Apply: 3rd week of April 2025
- Correction Window: 2nd week of May 2025
- Admit Card Availability: 1st week of June 2025

- Result Declaration: January 27, 2025
- Counselling and Seat Allocation: Begins immediately after result declaration
Application Process
- Visit the Official Website: Go to the NBEMS website (natboard.edu.in).
- Register: Complete the registration process by entering the required details.
- Fill the Application Form: Fill out the FMGE application form and upload scanned documents.
- Pay the Application Fee: Pay the fee using credit/debit cards or net banking.
- Submit the Form: Submit the application form and print a hard copy for future reference.
