Delhi’s CM SHRI School Admission Test 2025: A Step Toward Educational Excellence

New Delhi, September 13, 2025 – The Directorate of Education (DoE), Government of NCT of Delhi, has successfully conducted the CM SHRI School Admission Test 2025 today, marking a significant milestone in the city’s pursuit of world-class public education. The entrance exam, held across 98 test centers in Delhi from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, is a gateway for students seeking admission to Classes 6, 7, and 8 in the newly launched CM SHRI Schools for the 2025-26 academic session.

A Vision for Quality Education

The CM SHRI Schools, modeled after the Central Government’s PM SHRI Schools and aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, are designed to provide cutting-edge infrastructure and innovative teaching methodologies. With a budget allocation of ₹100 crore, as announced by Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, these schools aim to redefine public education by offering AI-powered libraries, AR/VR classrooms, and sustainable campuses. The initiative emphasizes accessibility, inclusivity, and academic excellence, positioning CM SHRI Schools as a flagship project of the Delhi government.

Overwhelming Response to Admissions

The admission process, which opened on July 30, 2025, witnessed an extraordinary response, with over 50,000 applications submitted within the first week alone. According to the Education Department, 14,928 applications were received for Class 6, 15,114 for Class 7, and 20,762 for Class 8, reflecting strong public trust in the initiative. Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood described the response as “a testament to the faith families have placed in us to deliver quality education.”

Exam Details and Schedule

The CM SHRI Admission Test 2025 was an OMR-based, objective-type exam conducted in a bilingual format (Hindi and English) with no negative marking. The 150-minute test covered subjects such as Hindi, English, General Awareness, Mental Ability, and Numerical Aptitude, with additional time provided for candidates with special needs. The test was initially scheduled for August 30 but was rescheduled to September 13 due to administrative reasons, with admit cards released on September 10. Students were able to download their hall tickets from the official website, edudel.nic.in.

The DoE has outlined a clear timeline for the admission process:

  • September 19–20, 2025: Publication of the final list of selected students.
  • September 20–23, 2025: Completion of admission formalities.
No extensions will be granted beyond these dates, ensuring a streamlined process.

Eligibility and Reservation Policy

Eligibility for the CM SHRI Admission Test was restricted to students residing in Delhi and currently enrolled in recognized schools within the city. To promote inclusivity, at least 50% of seats are reserved for students from government and government-aided schools, including those under the DoE, Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), Kendriya Vidyalayas, and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. Additionally, a 5% relaxation in eligibility marks is provided for students from SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) categories and children with special needs (CWSN).

A Transparent and Fair Process

The DoE has emphasized transparency and fairness in the admission process. The OMR-based test ensures quick and accurate evaluation, while the online application system, accessible via edudel.nic.in, simplifies the process for parents. Applicants were required to submit documents such as Aadhaar cards, birth certificates, and residence proof during the application phase, which closed on August 22.

Looking Ahead

The CM SHRI Schools are set to be inaugurated in September 2025, with preparations in full swing to operationalize these institutions. Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), the schools will adopt a curriculum based on NEP 2020 and the National Curriculum Framework 2023, focusing on inquiry-based and experiential learning. Education Minister Sood reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring a “hassle-free and transparent” process, underscoring the initiative’s goal of providing world-class education to Delhi’s students.

As the final merit list approaches, thousands of families across Delhi await the results, hopeful for a chance to join these state-of-the-art institutions. The CM SHRI Schools are poised to set a new benchmark for public education, blending modern infrastructure with a vision for future-ready learning.
