Delhi’s government has initiated Aadhaar enrolment camps targeting schoolchildren to streamline access to essential services. This program simplifies identity documentation for students and parents, advancing digital inclusion across the capital.

First Camp Kicks Off in Janakpuri

On Monday, Delhi Education Minister Ashish Sood launched the first camp at Sarvodaya Co-educational Senior Secondary School in Poshangipur, Janakpuri. The school now hosts biometric and demographic data collection stations, allowing families to enroll children without traveling to distant centres. Sood emphasized that these camps close gaps in accessing welfare schemes and educational benefits.

Chief Minister Drives Citizen-Friendly Approach

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta leads this initiative, prioritizing ease for residents. The camps eliminate long queues and travel challenges, especially for low-income families. By setting up enrolment in schools, the government boosts participation among students, aligning with the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (UIDAI) goal of universal Aadhaar coverage.

Convenience for Families

These school-based camps save parents time by integrating enrolment into school routines. Trained UIDAI-certified operators collect fingerprints, iris scans, and demographic details. The Janakpuri camp enrolled over 200 students on its first day, earning praise from families. The initiative ensures children gain Aadhaar numbers for scholarships, midday meals, and future digital services.

Expansion Plans Underway

After the Janakpuri success, the Education Department will roll out camps across all 70 assembly constituencies within a month. Schools will host additional sessions during parent-teacher meetings and holidays to reach more families. Mobile enrolment units will serve remote areas, with monitoring systems to track progress and fix technical issues, targeting 95% coverage by December.

Boosting Digital India’s Vision

Delhi’s camps strengthen the Digital India campaign, where Aadhaar unlocks banking, healthcare, and education services. By focusing on youth, the initiative equips the next generation for a digital future. Experts see this as a model for other states struggling with low enrolment in rural areas. Families can check school notices or the UIDAI portal for camp schedules, as Delhi moves toward full Aadhaar saturation.
