Dehradun, January 28, 2025 – The District Magistrate of Dehradun has declared a one-day holiday for all schools and Anganwadi centers in the district on January 28, 2025. This decision was made in anticipation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to inaugurate the 38th National Games in Uttarakhand2.
The official notice, issued under the Disaster Management Act, 2005, stated that the holiday is necessary to ensure smooth arrangements during the Prime Minister’s visit. Schools and Anganwadi centers are required to remain closed for the day to facilitate the event1.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit is part of a packed schedule that includes the inauguration of the Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar earlier in the day, followed by the National Games inauguration in Dehradun in the evening.
The 38th National Games will be held across 11 cities in eight districts of Uttarakhand from January 28 to February 14, 2025. Over 10,000 athletes from 36 states and one union territory will participate in 35 sports disciplines, with Yoga and Mallakhamb being included for the first time1.
