Annual Psycho-Social Counselling Initiative by CBSE

New Delhi, January 30, 2025 – The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced the commencement of its annual psycho-social counselling service, aimed at helping Class X and XII students manage exam-related stress. The initiative will run from February 1, 2025, to April 4, 2025, covering the crucial period leading up to and following the theory exams, which begin on February 15, 2025.

The psycho-social counselling service is designed to provide continuous support to students in three phases: before, during, and after the exams. This free service includes a 24/7 Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS), tele-counselling from trained professionals, and access to podcasts and videos on stress management and exam preparation.

Key Features of the Counselling Service:

  • 24/7 IVRS Support: Students can call the toll-free number 1800-11-8004 for tips on stress-free exam preparation, time and stress management, FAQs, and CBSE contact details. Assistance is available in both Hindi and English around the clock1.
  • Tele-Counselling Services: A team of 66 trained professionals, including principals, counsellors, special educators, and psychologists, will provide voluntary support from 9:30 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Saturday. The team includes professionals from India, Nepal, Japan, Qatar, Oman, and the UAE1.
  • Podcasts/Audio-Visual Content: Students can access bilingual podcasts and video resources focused on stress management, preparation strategies, and mental well-being on the official CBSE website.

The CBSE’s psycho-social counselling initiative underscores the board’s commitment to students’ academic success and mental well-being. By offering expert guidance, round-the-clock assistance, and digital content, the initiative aims to create a stress-free atmosphere, enabling students to perform at their best2.
