All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2025: Key Details and Important Dates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the All India Sainik Schools Entrance Examination (AISSEE) 2025 for admissions to Class VI and Class IX in Sainik Schools across India for the academic year 2025-26. This prestigious exam is a gateway for students aiming to join the esteemed Sainik Schools, which are residential institutions preparing cadets for the National Defence Academy (NDA), Indian Naval Academy, and other training academies for officers2.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Class VI: Candidates should be between 10 and 12 years old as of March 31, 2025. Girls are eligible for admission to Class VI in all Sainik Schools1.
  • Class IX: Candidates should be between 13 and 15 years old as of March 31, 2025, and must have passed Class VIII from a recognized school. Girls are eligible for admission to Class IX, subject to seat availability1.

Exam Pattern

  • Class VI: The exam duration is 150 minutes (2:00 PM to 4:30 PM) and will include multiple-choice questions from Language, Mathematics, Intelligence, and General Knowledge.
  • Class IX: The exam duration is 180 minutes (2:00 PM to 5:00 PM) and will include multiple-choice questions from Mathematics, Intelligence, English, General Science, and Social Science.

Application Process

  • Online Registration: The registration window opened on December 25, 2024, and will close at 5:00 PM on January 13, 2025. Candidates must complete the fee payment by January 14, 20251.
  • Exam Fee: The exam fee is Rs 800 for general, OBC-NCL, defence, and ex-servicemen category candidates, and Rs 650 for SC and ST category candidates.
  • Exam Cities: The exam will be conducted in 190 cities across India.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on the merit list of AISSEE 2025, medical fitness, and verification of requisite documents. Candidates must secure a minimum of 25% in each subject and 40% in aggregate to be eligible for admission. No minimum marks are prescribed for candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe categories1.

  • Medium of Examination: For Class VI, the medium of examination will be English, Marathi, Odiya, Bengali, Hindi, Assamese, Punjabi, Tamil, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Urdu, and Malayalam. For Class IX, the medium of examination will be English1.
